Vasoepididymostomy: procedure and recovery

Line drawing illustrating a vasoepididymostomy

Patients would undergo a vasoepididymostomy to reverse a vasectomy or for those men who have a blockage to the testicle. The procedure involves reattaching the vas deferens and the epididymis. A vasoepididymostomy is more complex than a typical vasectomy reversal and is used in some instances. The vasoepididymostomy procedure can also be used to eliminate a blockage in the tubules or abdomen. The operation is completed with the use of a microscope and fine stitches are used to seal the reattached vas deferens and epididymis.
